Mastering the Art of Lesson Planning

I remember how excited I was when I got my first job as a teacher.  But almost immediately that excitement wore off and was replaced with questions and anxiety.  

Will the kids like me?

What do I do if there is an emergency?

How do I make copies?

Where do I get the keys to my classroom?

What happens if I need to use the restroom during class?

What am I going to teach?

Most of the other questions were quickly and easily answered but that last one, "What am I going to teach?" was a different story. 

I was given the material, I was given the standards, and I was given some basic ideas but I was still so lost.  

What should I do for 50 minutes a day, for 5 days a week, for 36 weeks a year?

I had no idea and I did not even know where to start. 

In my latest video I go into depth about how to lesson plan.  I put it all out there and I even record my class so you can see how I implement what we created. 

The video is meant to be a resource and an answer to that question I asked myself 20 years ago, "What am I going to teach?"
