I Was Vice-Principal For A Week

"Hey Vigil do you have a second?"

I have been doing this job for 21 years but anytime my Principal asks me if I have a second, I start to get butterflies. 

"I sure do."

As I walked into his office he closed the door behind me.

To be honest with you I do not know exactly how I was feeling in that moment but I knew it was something important because he closed the door.  

He then proceed to ask me how I felt about moving up to the role of Vice-Principal.  

I quickly replied back, "I don't know.  It just seems like so much work."

He then explained what was going on.  We were in the process of hiring a new administrator but they needed some help in the office until they hired the person.  He explained it would be at least 1 week but maybe a little longer. 

"Think about he said."

That night I talked to my wife and thought about all of my options.  I even called several people and got their opinion.  

Ultimately I decided that I would accept the challenge because there is only so much I can do for my school from inside the classroom and I hoped I could make a little bit bigger impact, even if it was for only 1 week.
