How to Wrap a Class Period

It is 10 minutes before class is over and you are just counting down the minutes.  

I have had this thought so many times in my career, "I make 1 dollar a minute.  Just hang in there for another minute.  If I hang in there for 10 more minutes I can treat myself to a Starbucks".  

Then I look at the clock and only a minute has passed.  

Uggggg.

Has that happened to you?

We hear all the time that we should teach bell to bell but what does that exactly mean?  

One of the sayings that I love is "Idle hands are the devil's playground".  I have found that to be true in my class.  If the kids do not have anything to do, that is often when behavior becomes a problem. 

One of the times I see this the most in classes is towards the end of the class period.  

That is a crucial mistake that will cause you headaches in the long run.
