How To Lesson Plan Like A Pro

It seems like as the years go on, the expectations of what we are suppose teach increases more and more each year.  I remember when I first started teaching there were things called State Standards.  I thought alright, as soon as I got the hang of that then I am in good shape.  

Then they introduced Power Standards.  What are power standards?   How are those different?  What is going on?   

It seemed like each year there was something new and different and eventually I started to realize that things will come and go but the basic organization of lesson planning will not change.  

So I am currently helping my student teacher lesson plan and while doing so I had to take a step back and actually think about how I lesson plan.  

It is second nature to me now but when I really thought about what I do, there is a logical and systematical approach you can take to make your life easier.
