How Teachers Should Start Their Class

Procedures, Procedures, Procedures.  That needs to be the mantra of every teacher.  I can promise you this.  If you have solid procedures in your classroom you class will run better.

I once heard another teacher say that running your class is kinda like a dance and procedures are the dance moves.  I have never been much of a dancer and if I do dance I am always counting.  1,2,1,1,2.  

When it comes to procedures, the more routines you have in place the smoother your classroom can function and before you know it things start to fall in place. 

I am not sure how much time you have spent thinking about all the procedures in your classroom and what is the best way to run your class, but if you haven't my advice is to start now and to teach your students the procedures the very first day.
