First Day of School

What does your first day of school look like?

Is it Ice Breakers, Introductions, Story Telling, Down to Business, or a combination of all of them together?

Over the years I have changed what I do the first day and week of school but for the past 10 years I have pretty much done the same thing. 

Don't get me wrong I have made changes and adjustments but for the most part I have it dialed in.  

My students come in to class. 

They work on an assignment called the Nacirema (It takes about 5 minutes).  

I then share my philosophy on teaching. 

We then revisit the worksheet they did at the beginning of the class. 

And finally I tie it all together using the worksheet to reinforce my philosophy on teaching.
