Consequences For Students Who Get In Trouble

Jul 22, 2023

There is so much truth to the saying, "It is not what you say but how you say it".

Let me be the first to say, that students need consequences.  Heck I still need consequences for my actions.  I do my best to teach my students and my own kids that our actions effect others and we need to take responsibility for our decisions.

With that said how I as a parent or a as a teacher implement those consequences is important.  The dynamics in the classroom are very unique.  You have one teacher to 30 students and each student has their own personalities and story.  My philosophy is fair firm and consistent but I know I may have to change my delivery depending upon the child.

When it comes to discipline in the classroom I take an approach where my consequences are staggered.  This saves me time, and energy.

In my latest video I talk about my discipline progression which I use in my classroom.
