Classroom Rules That Really Work for Discipline

Oct 05, 2024

How many times have you heard, "Make sure to communicate your expectations to students'!

I truly agree with that statement but what I found out over the years is that it is not so much what you say but what you do that holds credibility with your students.

The week before my very first day of teaching (20 years ago) I thought about what rules I wanted to have in my classroom and I not only wrote them all down but I printed them out so that I had 50 pieces of paper describing each of my 50 rules.

I then posted all of my 50 rules around my room.

Then to add injury to insult I then verbally shared all of my 50 rules with my students.

Don't get me wrong, I am the number one supporter of making sure my students know my expectations but even I can recognize that was over kill

So what is the best way share your expectations and create classroom rules that really work?

That is the question that I answer in my latest video.
