Change is Possible

How are you doing this school year?  When I talk to my colleagues and other teachers around the United States the feeling I get more often than not is that things are not going well.   I use to think it was just my school or my district but know I am under the impression is that the things we struggling with in California are happening all over the country.  

Ugh.  It is so frustrating because the main reason we all signed up to be teachers was to make a difference but these days that is getting harder to do because more and more has been put on our plate.  

Last year all the problems at my school culminated into a large group fight that rocked our school and made all of the staff and students feel unsafe.  We had more questions then answers but we all knew one thing and that was this, "Things Needed To Change". 

The staff started to work together and we created a lunch detention program in which we could start tackling some of the smaller problems with the hopes that it would start to change the culture of our school.
