Are you ready for a new year and a fresh start?

One of the great things about teaching is that is has many different built in breaks and ideal times to reset your classroom.  One of those perfect times is New Years.  

Think about it... No matter how awful your 2023 year was, you can start fresh in 2024.  What other job allows you that.  That is not to say the students will be different but if you are looking to change things then what better time is it then after a break. 

It is my belief that if you put the time and the effort in at the beginning of the year making sure to set clear expectations, practice routines, and establish norms, it will pay dividends the entire year.  

If the you were unable to do that at the beginning of the year you can do it when you return in 2024.   So what are the top 5 classroom management strategies should you focus on.  

#1.    Seating Chart

#2.    Have something for students to work on the moment they enter the classroom

#3.    Use a timer

#4.    Always over plan your lessons

#5.    Progressive Discipline
