5 Essential Classroom Procedures

I was listening to a Podcast the other day and the speaker was talking about the differences between rules and procedures.  

I never thought about it before but the more he spoke I started to piece together what he was saying. 

Rules are put in place as a way of informing the students what not to do.  They are somewhat negative in nature. 

Procedures are put in place to make the classroom run smoothly. 

Now of course there is a huge overlap and many procedures are put in place to stop students from doing certain things but I got the overall meaning of what he was trying to say. 

So that got me thinking about the procedures in my classroom. 

I have procedures for almost everything but if I only had to pick a handful what would they be?

In addition what procedures do I think all teachers should have in place in order to make their classroom run as smoothly as possible.
